REMEMBERING SUZANNE STEPHENSON

Web Image: FF Kitty AngelOn November 21, The Feline Foundation--and kitties everywhere--lost a treasured friend . If something needed to be done, Suzanne and her husband, Richard Fitzgerald, were there to do it.  This included adopting a series of senior kitties, beginning with a trio they adopted in 1997.  More recently, they fostered, nursed back to health and adopted two younger red-headed ladies who survived against terrible odds. Suzanne was a vibrant soul who lived life to the fullest. We raise our paws to salute her memory and our almost 15 years of furry friendship, and extend our  love and heartfelt sympathy to Richard & their family.

If you have no other pets, and are craving feline companionship, just fill out a foster application today and you could be sharing your home with one of the best kitties on the planet by the new year!

Jessie is a total doll baby with an enormous purr, an inquiring mind and bundles of energy to match...

YOU CAN HELP NOW

1.  Contribute to us via your Combined Federal Campaign or United Way.

2.  Consider adopting an older cat.
In these troubled times, many people have abandoned or given up their pets. What a sad ending for cats who have given unqualified love all their lives! Senior cats make great companions. Here are more good reasons!

3.  Become a cat foster parent.
The number of animals we can help is limited only by the number of available foster homes. Please consider volunteering in this very rewarding capacity. Find out more

4.  Got barn? The Foundation is looking for farms and stables for homeless, free-roaming cats, in a safe environment, with access to shelter and food. All cats are checked by a veterinarian, and are spayed or neutered. If you have a big heart and a lot of land, please consider giving these cats a safe home to call their own. For more information, please call us at 703-920-8665.

5. Encourage every pet owner you know to spay or neuter their pets.

For every cat spayed or neutered, 420,000 homeless kittens are prevented in just seven years.

Cat Health Warning: Lilies and Cats = A Fatal Combination

lily warning graphicAlmost all members of the lily family contain toxins that can be deadly to cats. Just a curious nibble, a lick of pollen, or even a sip from a vase can be enough to cause irreparable kidney damage and even death. Signs of lily toxicity include vomiting, lethargy and appetite loss. Keep your beloved feline companions away from lilies!

This notice is posted in honor of our miraculous White Nose, who survived a lily encounter, and in memory of beautiful Bella, and countless other kitty angels who did not.

About FFGW
Cats in our program reside at private homes of foster care givers and remain within our organization until a permanent home is found. We do not euthanize healthy cats.

Formed in 1995, the mission of the Feline Foundation of Greater Washington is to provide necessary veterinary and loving foster care for every animal in our program, to find them permanent, adoptive homes where they will be treated with love and respect for the rest of their lives, to provide foster care for life if no adoptive home can be found, and to educate the public regarding responsible cat care.  We are a 501(c)(3) organization (EIN 54-1749459).
